This was what the Queen Latifa Article was:
Carol Burnett has done it all in her almost 60 year career. From Broadway to writing best-selling books, to starring in movies and television, she's an American comedy legend. Along the way she's earned eight Golden Globes, six Emmys, a Peabody Award and most recently, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Entertainers including Julie Andrews, Tony Bennett, Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler performed in Burnett's honor as she received the prize. “This is very encouraging,” Carol Burnett said while accepting the prize. “I mean it was a long time in coming, but I understand because there are so many people funnier than I am, especially here in Washington. “With any luck, they’ll soon get voted out, and I’ll still have the Mark Twain prize.”
For Queen Latifah, her love of Carol Burnett always goes back The Carol Burnett Show -- a show that ran for 11 years, won 25 Emmys and entertained Queen Latifah every week.
“It’s great, I’m getting fan mail now from teenagers who are watching the show on YouTube and DVD," says Carol Burnett. "Every once and a while I go out on the road and do Q&A’s and I was in Texas recently and a little boy in the audience raised his hand, his name was Andrew. And I said, ‘How old are you, Andrew?’ and he said, ‘9’ and I said, ‘you’re 9 and you know who I am, ‘ and he said, ‘Surprisingly, yes.’”
This artistic brilliance, her respect and appreciation of her fans, and her graciousness, integrity, warmth, and humor on and off screen is what has made Carol Burnett one of the most beloved performers in entertainment and one of the most admired women in America.
Carol Burnett: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize will air on November 24, 2013 on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings).
Unfortunatly, I didn't get to actually watch the interview, so if anyone can, will you upload it to YT!
