OMG So, I really felt like making this thread. I'm re-reading the book for my English class! (Sometimes my English teacher really rocks!) Some thoughts: BELLEVILLE!!!!!!! OMG THATS IN ARKANSAS!!!!!! IM IN ARKANSAS!!!!!!!!!!!! God, Her mom really reminds me of my mom.... Nanny seems pretty friggin epic! Nanny gives no shits. Not a single one. 6 FREAKIN TIMES! Imagine how much money she could have pawned all of her wedding rings for! LET THE DISCUSSION BEGIN

That book inspired me to drive up to Belleville. I've been there three times now! You should try and go up there sometime just to see it. You'll see some landmarks that will look familiar from Carrie & Me for sure. There is literally NOTHING to do there but it's beautiful. I even saw some women dressed in Amish attire. A little research revealed there is an Amish Mennonite community living in Belleville now. They have a business selling vegetables and spreads that you have probably seen in some stores here in the state. It's just a picturesque place with beautiful mountain views. Just being there knowing you're looking around and seeing the same things Carol's family saw living there...and knowing Carol herself has been in that very same place, driven that very same road.
About the book itself, I think it is my favorite of her 3 autobiographies/memoirs.

Carrie and Me kinda made me wish that Carrie would have finished Sunrise in Memphis. I loved that part! Imagine how great that book would have been!! Carrie was a talent in her own right, not like alot of stars that sponge off of there parents' talent! (Yes, I am talking about Miley Cyrus) Carrie could have made a bigger impact on the world if she would have lived.
Although Carrie and Me is my favorite, I can relate to more of One More Time (I imagine you already know why)

This book has so many layers to it. When I was still teaching, I thought seriously about using it in one of my classes. It has everything; the Great Depression, being a kid during WWII, a teenager during the conservative 1950s. So much stuff to draw on. There are times when I'm reading it that I get so angry with Carol's mother, I could scream.
